I am thrilled to announce the birth of my first child, Harrison Jonah Sheffield! After 26 hours of labor & zero pain meds, Harrison entered the world on December 30th at 4:03 am weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces & measuring 19.5 inches long. Some truly unexpected complications landed him in the NICU for 5 days after birth, but he overcame every obstacle with incredible strength. Though unforeseen and quite terrifying at times, his extended hospital stay immediately required trust in the Lord’s faithfulness and sovereignty. My husband and I needed the reminder that our son belongs to God, first and foremost.
The past month held many challenges, to be sure. However, nothing in this world gives me greater joy than stepping into the role of Harrison’s mama. Each time negativity tempts me (I’m looking at you, sleep deprivation), I stop & choose gratitude. When I look at Harrison, nothing else matters and I am convinced he is worth every difficult moment. If there’s one thing I can say with confidence after this short time, it is that motherhood requires sacrifice & selflessness at every turn. Nevertheless, the privilege of shepherding a new life in this world is an honor. This journey is a humbling endeavor & I am so thankful to experience it.
